Altas works on "monster" compressor

Imagine an industrial air compressor that’s three stories tall. Next, think about the impact if that compressor has a catastrophic breakdown. Such was the case recently when Atlas Machine and Supply was called in to help repair a massive centrifugal air compressor for an air separation plant in the northeastern United States.

Atlas’ skilled technicians worked around the clock on the 8,000-horse power compressor which is capable of moving air at the rate about 40,000 cubic-feet per minute.  The compressor is essential for the plant’s production of gases for industrial and medical use.

The challenging repair required a coordinated team effort involving manpower from Air, Pump and Machine Shop divisions and all four Atlas locations. Contributing to the job were Chris Cowan, Paul Hamann, Jason Herzog, Eric King, Shawn  Mullennex, Steve Myers, Richard Radcliffe, Will Strobridge, Norb Werner, and Brad Williams. Their work is another great example of Atlas’ expertise in tackling the most challenging on-site jobs.
