Emergency job requires teamwork to complete

When it comes to emergency repairs, Atlas Machine and Supply, Inc. has gained the trust of industry throughout the United States. Our customers know that Atlas’ skilled workers can handle any size equipment and will get it back on line as fast as humanly possible.
So it wasn’t a huge surprise when Atlas was contacted by a major steel mill in the Eastern U.S. for an emergency repair. A crucial piece of equipment was damaged during an explosion, bringing the mill’s production to an extremely costly standstill.
Available around the clock, a coordinated team of expert Atlas machinists and welders immediately sped into action to repair the 22,000-pound part at Atlas’ state-of-the-art facility in Louisville.
“When it came into the shop we had people all over it,” says
Ronnie Thompson, an Applications Engineer at Atlas who was involved in the job.
According to Ronnie, the repair required restoring the massive part both internally and externally through the coordinated effort of a cross-section of Atlas employees from several departments.
Involved were machinists, welders, engineers, transportation personnel and logistic coordinators. Much to the customer’s delight, they successfully finished the complicated repair in about 24 hours.
Ronnie sums up the job best: “I have often said that if
Atlas does anything better than anyone in the world, it’s getting a customer out of a big, bad bind.”
