All it took was Atlas Air Compressor ingenuity!

Atlas Machine technicians at our facility in Columbus, Ohio applied their collective creativity recently to improve service to a customer--the Columbus School System. With parts and pieces donated from other customers, technicians Brad Williams, Damon Lindsey and Paul Hamann worked together to build an apparatus capable of testing the school system’s reciprocating air compressors.
The apparatus was nicknamed “The Bob Sled” and consists of a compressed air tank on wheels that is attached to a small electric motor and electrical outlet. The portable equipment now allows the techs to check-out the school’s compressors without sending them all the way to Atlas’ Cincinnati shop for testing. The convenience also adds up to a considerable cost savings for the school district since it has a total of 150 reciprocating air compressors school-wide.
“The techs took it on themselves to solve a problem with very little investment,” said Erik Kelley, Atlas’ Director of Air Products. “We now are able to make the school system’s repairs faster and cheaper.”
The "Bob Sled" apparatus developed by Atlas can now be readily used to reduce costs for other companies in the Columbus, Ohio area, seeking service on similar air compressors.
