Momentum Builds: Atlas Machine & Supply Expands Apprenticeship Opportunities with Full RTI Credit from Four Schools and Participation in TRACK Program

At Atlas Machine & Supply, we are committed to building the next generation of skilled workers. Today, we’re excited to announce a major expansion of our apprenticeship opportunities. We are now accepting Related Technical Instruction (RTI) credit from two additional outstanding high schools: Southern High School and Grayson County High School’s Computerized Manufacturing & Machining Programs. This adds to our existing partnerships with Meade County and Breckinridge County, bringing the total to four schools whose graduates will now be eligible for full RTI credit upon enrollment in our state-registered Machinist Apprenticeship Program.

This expansion marks another significant step forward in ensuring that students from these schools receive the recognition they deserve for their rigorous training. Graduates will enter our apprenticeship program with 100% of their RTI completed, allowing them to focus fully on the remaining requirement of 8,000 hours of On-the-Job Training (OJT) over the next four years, ultimately leading to a state-recognized Journeyman’s Certificate.

“We’re thrilled to welcome students from Southern and Grayson County into our apprenticeship program,” said Marla Moore, People & Experience Director at Atlas. “By accepting their RTI credit, we’re not just recognizing the value of their education—we’re also giving them a head start on their careers. This is a huge advantage that accelerates their path toward becoming skilled journeymen.”

TRACK Youth Apprenticeship: The Fast-Track to a Career in Machining

In addition to this exciting new development, Atlas is proud to participate in the TRACK (Tech Ready Apprentices for Careers in Kentucky) Youth Apprenticeship Program. Developed by the Kentucky Department of Education in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor, TRACK offers high school students the opportunity to earn paid work experience while earning credit toward a Registered Apprenticeship in skilled trades, including machining.

Through TRACK, students from Meade County, Breckinridge County, Southern High, and Grayson County can now log On-the-Job Training (OJT) hours that count toward their apprenticeship program. This creates a seamless transition from high school to full-time apprenticeship, with many students entering Atlas’s program with not only 100% of their RTI completed but also a portion of their OJT hours already fulfilled.

“TRACK is an incredible opportunity for students to gain hands-on, paid work experience while still in high school,” said Harold Morgan, President of Machining & Repair. “By partnering with TRACK, we’re fast-tracking students’ careers, giving them the experience and certification they need to move forward with confidence. This creates a direct pipeline from high school to a rewarding career in machining.”

Expanding Apprenticeship Pathways: In-House and Field Service Opportunities

Atlas continues to expand our apprenticeship offerings, providing students with diverse pathways to success. In addition to our long-established In-House location in Louisville, we are now able to officially state-register our Field Service location in Hardinsburg. This expansion allows students to gain valuable experience in both shop and field environments, each leading to a Journeyman’s credential backed by the state.

Supporting Skilled Trades for the Future and Empowering Students for Success

Skilled trades are vital to our economy, and Atlas is dedicated to nurturing this crucial sector. Through our participation in TRACK and acceptance of RTI credit, we’re helping students transition seamlessly into high-demand careers, ensuring the next generation of skilled professionals is prepared to meet the challenges of the modern workforce. For decades, Atlas’s Machinist Apprenticeship Program has set the standard for hands-on, real-world training. As one of Kentucky’s leading apprenticeship programs, we continue to evolve, providing students with the best opportunities available.

This milestone is a reflection of the high-quality education and training provided by Meade County, Breckinridge County, Southern High, and Grayson County Schools. These partnerships ensure that students are job-ready and equipped for success.

“At Atlas, we believe that the combination of education and hands-on experience is key,” said Harold Morgan. “By partnering with these schools and participating in TRACK, we’re not only helping students launch their careers but also contributing to the growth of the machining industry. We’re proud to be part of their journey and to offer opportunities that will shape their futures.”

As we move forward, Atlas remains steadfast in our commitment to developing the next generation of skilled machinists, offering the resources, experience, and pathways needed to succeed.
