The ATLAS Apprentice Program: Developing Highly-Skilled Workers

The ATLAS Apprentice Program is training the next generation of highly-skilled machinists. Atlas apprentices are currently learning advanced skills at the company’s Louisville Machine Shop or within its Field Machining Division. The specialized program involves four years of both on-the-job training and classroom instruction—and participants are paid while they learn.

The program is a ‘win-win’ for all involved. Apprentices completing the program graduate debt-free with a Journeyman certificate from Kentucky’s Education, Workforce & Development Cabinet—a high-level achievement that’s also recognized nationwide by the U.S. Department of Labor.

And here’s another big advantage of the program – in addition to getting paid while learning, apprentices receive full company benefits that begin on their first day at Atlas. Those benefits include paid time off, health insurance, an employee assistance program, a 401 (k) retirement plan with company match, and more.

Atlas comes out as a winner too. Most of the graduates choose to continue their careers at Atlas, thus providing the family-owned business with an important pipeline of highly-skilled and productive workers.
